Curious who’s launching this new line of sparkling CBD beverages? Surprise: Ocean Spray Cranberries. Yeah, the juice guys!
The format is familiar, a fizzy concoction with a bit of flavor and a lot of CBD. And in the case of CarryOn, some extra ingredients designed to either “elevate” or “descend” your mood – and “geared to keep you calm but sharp or provide relaxation with no impairment, both restoring the confidence to stay strong and carry on during these stressful times.”
Both contain 5% juice (mainly apple) and come in 11.5 oz cans. Let’s give them a try.
CarryOn Sparkling Grapefruit Elevate – The “creativity” beverage. Includes 10mg of CBD and 55mg of Choline, plus vitamins C and E. It’s less overtly grapefruit-heavy than a grapefruit soda, but the flavor is there and the overall impression is authentic and pleasing. Moderated carbonation is appreciated here, as it lets the citrus shine a bit more clearly.
CarryOn Sparkling Blueberry Descend – The “downer” option. Includes 20mg of CBD and an unspecified amount of L-Theanine, plus vitamins C and E. It packs a strong blueberry punch, right after cracking open the can. The berry flavor is significant but not overpowering — it’s stronger than the typical CBD water offers — and it melds well with moderated carbonation. Like the Grapefruit expression, it’s easy to enjoy a full can with getting tired of the flavor.
As for the mood-enhancing effects, neither felt particularly earth-shattering, but I did appreciate the mild calming effect of the “descend” expression. Neither is cheap, but you will get a better bang for your buck from the Descend option.
