As discussed in our recent coverage of Also Organics’ CBD edibles, the company also produces topical products from the same organic, non-GMO hemp base. Today we look at both a pain salve and a hand lotion, each of which contains 500mg of CBD per vial.
Let’s look at each in turn.
Also Organics CBD Pain Salve comes in a handsome vial with a 2 oz. capacity. Active ingredients don’t just include the 500mg of CBD as mentioned but also 1% menthol and — a biggie — 0.06% lidocaine. If you’re looking for a totally “natural” way to relieve pain, the addition of lidocaine here may turn you off. The consistency is thick and waxy, so expect to do some digging with your fingertips in order to excise enough salve to be useful. (It also leaves a fairly lasting greasiness on your hands, so be prepared to wash/wipe them off afterwards.)
That said, the stuff works. The pain relief it supplies on minor aches and pains is nearly instantaneous, and it lasts for quite a bit longer than most CBD creams/salves. There’s less CBD here than, say, Extract Labs‘ product, but the addition of lidocaine certainly makes up for any shortcomings on that front. As with Also’s edibles, it’s quite pricy — but

Also’s hand lotion includes lavender oil and vitamin C in addition to the 500mg of CBD, packaged in a glass vial with a spring-loaded pump mechanism. The lotion has an amazing consistency and isn’t at all greasy, absorbing quickly into the skin. In these wintry months, I found Also’s hand lotion to almost immediately clear up my dry, chapped hands — and the effect lasted not for hours but for days, so much so that I barely had to reapply it.
Again, it’s extremely expensive, but I simply can’t argue with the really impressive results.
